We spent Memorial Day at Burger’s Lake today. It was a great day of fun, sun, water, and kabobs on the grill.

When a pitcher is repeatedly throwing at you and not to you, it’s time to take action…even if the pitcher is a preschooler. Anything less would be downright cowardly.

Suppose you’re driving down the freeway at a nice easy pace when suddenly a chorus of brake lights begin flashing in front of you. You soon realize that right lane is ending a mile or two up the road and cars are merging from three lanes down to two lanes. What do you do?

The other day I think I gave Caleb the stupidest answer to any question he has ever asked. Sometimes as a parent you have to make things up as you go because either you don’t know the answer or the answer is too complicated for a two year-old to understand.

Over the weekend, I was horrified to read about a 16 year old boy in Houston who died of rabies after being bitten by a bat. My heart goes out to that family of Zachary Jones. I cannot imagine the pain of burying your child.

The hard work of motherhood may have been completed more than a decade ago, but now that I’m grown, I see more clearly. I see what it is you accomplished and what it is you sacrificed. Back in the day, you may have wondered what all you were giving up in order to raise kids. It probably seemed thankless. It may have felt overwhelming. It was definitely exhausting, but you kept going.

Caleb has had a couple of blunders this past week that have really made me laugh.

For about two months we’ve prayed that God would lead someone to buy our house. A two-hour round trip commute each day has a way of wearing you down. On Saturday we’ve had our most promising house buying prospect yet.

Today is Caleb’s favorite day of the week because he plays at Mrs. Heather and Rachel’s house. They always have a lot of fun planned for him. Today was no exception.
