Today is my birthday, so I thought I would share with you some highlights from the first thirty years of my life.
Jan 26, 1976 – Hello World!
1977 – Hmmm…kind of a blur.
1978 – Disney World but I don’t remember
1979 – Was always willing to flex when someone said, “Show me your muscles”
1980 – ?
1981 – Threw up in Mrs. Crabtree’s class after seeing another girl throw up. I got to go home and she didn’t.
1982 – Won a bicycle in first grade.
1983 – Sat on my dad’s shoulder and watched the Space Shuttle Challenger STS-8 launch from Cape Canaveral. Will never forget that.
1984 – Never missed the Dukes of Hazzard on Friday nights
1985 – One of the many years dad coached my little league team. Started a new school.
1986 – Decided that I needed to be a Christian. I was saved and baptized.
1987 – First girl friend. I’m not sure we ever actually had a conversation though. Learned to slolam water-ski.
1988 – Made all-stars on the little league baseball team.
1989 – Was a Nintendo freak and lived and breathed sports. My sister graduated from high school.
1990 – Played on middle school basketball team. My high-scoring game was once 8 points. Woo hoo. Wendy began dating some guy name Chris. Started Vigor High School.
1991 – Joined the tennis team. First Kiss. Began to really take more of an interest my spiritual life (perhaps as a result of the kiss).
1992 – Honor roll. Played lots of tennis and video games. Worked on a watermelon and sweet potato farm.
1993 – Sister married that Chris guy and moved to Texas.
1994 – Graduated from H.S. Drove a fork lift in the summer. Started University of South Alabama. Felt a call to ministry. Thought I was in love. What did I know about that.
1995 – Played lots of disc golf. Transferred to the University of Mobile. Met Tiffany. Intern at First Baptist North Mobile. Coached a youth basketball team with a friend.
1996 – Fell in love with Tiffany. Counselor at youth and preteen camp. Played lots of NBA Jam on Sega Genesis that summer. “He’s on fire!”
1997 – Went to my first NBA game. Saw Michael Jordan play no less. Youth minister at Dauphin Island Baptist Church.
1998 – Got engaged to Tiffany. Moved to Montgomery. Married Tiffany. Honeymooned in Cancun. Very poor. Very, very, very happy.
1999 – Still poor. Still happy. Worked for a mortgage company. Went to the mountains of north Georgia on our first anniversary.
2000 – Moved to Fort Worth, TX. Began working at Lifetime Guarantee as Electronic Communications Intern. Started Seminary at SWBTS.
2001 – Rough year: Tiffany’s dad died. We went back to Cancun on vacation to get away from it all.
2002 – Began freelance web design, and started this blog.
2003 – Became a dad. Life forever changed in a good way. Started full time at Lifetime Guarantee. Graduated from seminary.
2004 – Bonding with wife and Caleb. Going to lots of parks.
2005 – Caleb is growing up so fast and becoming such a real little person. I love being a dad. I love being married to Tiffany.
2006 – ?
So that’s how my lasty 30 years went.
