A Day in the Life of Caleb (In Photos)

It’s hard to believe that Caleb is turning six years old tomorrow. In many ways we can’t imagine our life before he was born. What did we do with all the time we had back them? He’s turned into quite a unique, cool kid. I wish everyone could know him like we do. That would be impossible, so we wanted to share with you (and remember for ourselves) some of the things that really get him excited.

Wake Up

Wake Up

Caleb normally wakes up somewhere between 6:30-7:30. Andrew is all too eager to assist in the process. Caleb enjoys getting his back scratched, like his dad, who used to wake up to a back scratch before Caleb was born, but I’m not bitter or anything.

Starting the day

Breakfast…and coffee?

Breakfast...and coffee?

No not coffee. We’ve figured out that a heavy coffee mug is more difficult to spill than a typical lightweight cup. His drink spill rate has gone way down.

Caleb’s eating a pop-tart now, but his favorite breakfast is monkey bread, which he’ll be getting in the morning. But his typical breakfast is often cereal/muffins, oatmeal/banana, or waffles/sausage.

Park

Monkey Bars

Most every day includes a trip to the pool or the park.

Caleb’s Pet Hermit Crab

Caleb's Pet Hermit Crab

Caleb wanted a pet, so we let him bring home five hermit crabs from our beach vacation this summer. Due to some unfortunate events, we now have one crab.

Goes by the name

And this lone survivor goes by the name of Squirmie.

Drawing Time

Caleb’s takes his drawing time very seriously. He’s gone through more than a dozen big art notebooks over the last year.

Book Reading Time

A-Z Mysteries

Caleb loves his chapter books. He’s not reading by himself yet, but he definitely has a love for books. His favorite series of books right now are A-Z Mysteries. He also loves to listen to books on CD. Anytime he’s in his room playing, he’s usually listening to a book in CD.

Book Reading Time

Every night the day ends we read almost an hour of reading. Going to the Library is a weekly event, and Tiffany has become a pro at using the library’s web site to put books on hold. At any given time, we have more than 50 books checked out. And she’s only paid a late fee once. Amazing!

Happy 6th Birthday Caleb. We can’t imagine our life without ya.
