A Little Monkey Business
We took Caleb to see Curious George yesterday, his first full-length, big-screen movie. We prepped him all week, going over everything from how you can’t talk to how we won’t be able to rewind it to watch the funny parts again. When we bought the tickets, we made sure we could get a refund if he got bored and wanted to leave after just a few minutes.
We didn’t need the refund. He was so good and sat so still.
He seemed a little wowed by the sheer size of the screen. At two-and-a-half years, he seemed to be the youngest person in the theater, or as Caleb called it, the movie-durator. In the opening scene, Caleb busted out with a laugh that was so loud that everyone turned around to see who it was. Most just smiled because they understood it was a kid’s movie. He did this a few more times throughout the movie.
I hurried him out to a bathroom break in the middle of the movie, and I’d never seen him hurry so fast through his pit stop. He normally dawdles around, taking his precious time with everything.
So many so-called kids movies are really adult movies with adult plots and adult inuendos, but not so with “Curious George.” Caleb did a great job at following the plot line.
On the way out he was so excited about it. He said, over and over, “Let’s come here back again. Let’s come here back again.”
