Back from the Bay
We just arrived back home from nearly a week in South Alabama with my parents at their cabin on Mobile Bay. It was a great trip, but like most “vacations” with young kids, they are never as easy and restful as you hope they will be…and need them to be. Somewhere along the seven-hour drive home from the beach, after our 18 month-old Andrew had screamed three of those hours, Tiffany and I looked at each other and one of us said, “Was this a vacation or an episode of survivor.”
We’re not complaining though. Despite those moments, most of the trip made for some great memories and fun times with the kids. Here are some of the highlights:
Caleb Learns to Ski

The “Super-ski” board has been in the family for about 30 years, and I was five years old when I first rode it, so it’s cool to see Caleb enjoy riding it. He rode it over and over and over.
Andrew’s first time to see the beach
Visiting the USS Alabama

We took Caleb to visit the battleship. July is not the best month to visit the ship since most of it isn’t air conditioned, but enough of it was air conditioned that we didn’t pass out. He loved it, and it’s a great way to tell him a little more about the incredible people who sacrificed so much for our freedom.
Now, we really need a vacation :)
