Bleeding and Weaning
It has been a big week around our house. Two very important events happened. First, Caleb was bleeding for the first time. He was busy pushing his scooter when it fell over and he busted his lip and chin. Blood was everywhere. Andy and I jumped into action. It took awhile, but he did calm down so we could survey the damage. Thankfully he is very tough, and within a few minutes he returned to playing with the exact same toy that caused the injury.
The second exciting event that happened this week is one that I thought would never happen. For 11 months and 1 day Caleb nursed exclusively. He hated having a bottle, until Wednesday night. The day had been normal, but as I sat down to feed him that night he wouldn’t have it. No more nursing even though I offered all the next day and the next. He was done. It has been exciting to watch him change. He has mastered taking milk from a cup 4 times a day.I never imagined him weaning so easily. I wouldn’t trade all of the thousands of hours I’ve held him while he nursed, but I am glad to finally have my body back and see him move on like he should.
One other note- Happy Father’s Day to Andy. He is an amazing dad and husband every day and we love him so much!
