Caleb & the Miller
We recently spent the weekend in Helen, GA. It’s a quaint little German-esque town about an hour and a half north of Atlanta. One of the highlights of the trip for Caleb was getting to see this real working grist mill.
We met Tommy, the miller, and he showed Caleb all the innerworkings of the mill. He made us promise that we would come back the next day when the mill was working and let Caleb be his assistant. So, of course, we did.

Here’s Caleb with Tommy the miller. After seeing Caleb’s interest in the mechanical operations of the mill, He said we should be saving up for Georgia Tech.

While there we picked up some Nora Mill pancake mix. Now take a look at this thick fluffy stack…yum!

Andy,
You should consider visiting Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. They have working mills, blacksmiths, soap making, all sorts of pioneer technologies on display. I remember absolutely loving it when I was a kid…that and the “Fire in the Hole” mine shaft roller coaster! Good times!
