Caleb’s First Church Service

Caleb had his first trip to church last night. In case you didn’t know we attend worship on Saturday nights instead of Sunday morning. At first he really enjoyed it. He was looking around at the ceiling during the opening music, and I’m not sure but I believe he was actually even surveying the wondrous cross. He seemed to be in a genuine worshipful attitude…as if he knew that he was indeed communing with the King of Kings. One time he even raised his hands and closed his eyes during a particulary meaningful portion of the song. But then the singing stopped and the minister led the congregation in a prayer. Unfortunately however, Caleb wasn’t through enjoying the music. For the first time Caleb took off his “religous mask” and much to our dismay expressed his displeasure with organized religion. I’m not sure if it was original sin or just a vocal statement that he’d rather sing than pray, but he made his point loud and clear. I quietly (no, actually not so quietly) exited the rear of the auditorium. As the saying goes, “Crying babies, just like good intentions, should be carried out immediately.”
