Merry Christmas
I love Christmas. I always have. I love being off work and spending time with family. I enjoy eating a little too much. We’re excited because we leave tomorrow morning for our Christmas vacation.

Where Does God Live?
God’s great gamble is making His dwelling place among people with free will. Because He lives within us, we are literally His hands and His feet. We represent Him to others. He has given us the freedom to trash or glorify His reputation. The world often interprets God’s character based on what they see in us.

That Which Cannot be Lost by Wind or Flood
The last month has proved to be a test of our nation’s ability to cope and help in a time of crisis and uncertainty. While lots of people are pointing fingers, the full extent of Hurricane Katrina’s damage is still uncertain, and hundreds of thousands throughout southern Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama have felt her powerful blow.

Need Some Time with God and a Mental Vacation
Sorry it’s been a few weeks since my last post. Things have been hectic around here. I just completed a web design project for Biblical Counseling and Ministries. I’ve also got two other projects in the works.
It’s not easy to admit, but for first time, I really believe I’ve over-extended myself with these jobs. It’s [...]

All For a Dirty, Worn-Out, Hand-Me-Down Shoe?
My wife Tiffany’s frustration was immediately evident when she called.
"I lost one of Caleb’s shoes. I know it was a hand-me-down shoe from Dillon [our nephew], but they fit perfectly and are the ones he wears to the park. I left them on the roof of the car [I know we’ve all done that]. One [...]

Before the Throne
Playing over and over in my head is this great hymn by Charitie Bancroft (1841-1892).
BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE Before the throne of God above I have a strong and perfect plea. A great high Priest whose Name is Love Who ever [...] +June 10, 2004
Control Freaks R Us
My eleven-month-old son is a card-carrying control freak. This tendency of his to want things his way is why I had to clean cereal off the kitchen wall this morning. Since we began letting him feed himself, he wants to do this more and more. So when I approached his mouth with a spoonful of [...]

Finish Strong or Finish Sloppy
It’s normally feast or famine for our church softball team. It seems like we’re either exploding with hit after hit or we’re slogging along rather weakly in a team-wide batting slump. Well, in last night’s game, we managed to do both. At the end of the first inning we had batted around almost twice and [...]

What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You
The length of time between when you get sick and the time when you know you’re sick is sometimes a relatively short period of time, but then again, sometimes it’s not. Did you know that you can be sick and not even realize it? If you get a cold you find out pretty quickly because [...]
