The ten-week summer has come to a close for Caleb. He’s off to his first day of first grade today. Of course, what would the modern family be without a camera to capture all the memories. So we’ll let Caleb tell you about it in his own words.

Caleb crossed-over into sevenland this week. [Insert obligatory statement about how I can’t believe he’s that old]. Every stage of life so far has been so different with the boys. You enjoy them as a baby, a toddler, and now as a boy who’s intelligent like his mom and can get sweaty and stinky [...]

We resisted for so long. Some family members told us it was time, but we just couldn’t bring ourselves to cut Andrew’s curly hair. But we started getting questions from strangers like, “How old is she?” And then there was all the tangles and the time where it got all matted. Yikes. So at two and a half years old, we finally cut his hair.

Hey, Tiffany here. Andrew is off at Mimi’s house this week while Caleb finishes his last week of kindergarten. Andy and I are enjoying the time with Caleb as the only child again. Although he was our only child for four and a half years, it is easy to forget what it was like back [...]

For boys who really enjoy knocking things down, bowling is an ideal game because they get to focus on knocking something down other than each other. Here are a couple of short videos we took.

Our six year old Caleb is starting to sound out words and write notes to us. Here are two examples of notes he’s written to Tiffany and me. I’m worried that this is an accurate reflection of how he views his relationships to us.

We once raised caterpillars until they turned into butterflies. We had a hermit crab living with us for most of last year. So we weren’t surprised when the only thing Caleb specifically asked for last Christmas was an ant farm. When he unwrapped it, he was so excited. But there was one problem. There [...] +

Today we celebrated Andrew’s second birthday. It’s amazing how much he has grown and has developed such a fun personality, and he’s starting to talk more and more every day. Here are a few pictures from the little party we had at home. Chris, Wendy, Dillon, and Abby joined us.

My two-year old Andrew loves playing basketball. He can’t get enough. Each time I lift him up to the hoop, he tosses it in he hangs on the rim as long as his little arms can stand. Then he drops into my arms, we pick up the ball, and we do it all over again, and again, and again. Yes, my arms feel like noodles.

Andrew turned 21 months old over the weekend. It’s hard to believe his second birthday is so quickly approaching. I wanted to give you a bit of a glimpse into our world. Now that Caleb is going to school five days a week for the first time, I’m really getting to know Andrew a lot more. His personality is blooming like springtime.
