Cedarcrest Church Site Redesign

Andy

August is an exciting month for Cedarcrest Church. For a few years this young church body has existed as a campus of our home church Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.

But starting next week they’ll become a self-sustaining (God-sustaining is more appropriate) expression of the Church. To coincide with their new identity, Cedarcrest asked if I would redesign their web site.

Their original design had been obviously influenced by the layout of my former church and employer, Fellowship Church, though the implementation wasn’t quite as polished as FC. Instead of dramatically changing this proven layout, we decided to tweak it and freshen it up. The result is a distinctly different, minimalist style.

Cedarcrest lead pastor George Wright has also stepped into the world of blogging, and I designed the masthead for his blog.

Looks good! That’s actually just down the road from me…small world.

I noticed on the page with the video that the left nav fly-outs pop under the video. I don’t know if that’s on purpose, but I’ve ran into that in the past. I added a flash param of wmode=transparent and it fixed the issue for me.

Nice work!

Like your brush work, and your rays! Got those in my newest site too. I’d love to know how you made them. I’m using the little wheel and spokes shape in Ps, but the center of it is bigger than yours. Maybe I could alter some settings somewhere.

Anyway, nice design!

Shane: Thanks for the reminder. I had overlooked that.

Heather: Thanks for the comment. Actually I didn’t create the large graphic on the front page. Cedarcrest did that in-house.

Talk to me, Goose
