Ed Young’s Creative Pastors

Andy

Today marks three months since I joined the web team at Fellowship Church. And yesterday morning, in the wee hours, we launched our redesigned CreativePastors website. As an ecommerce site, CreativePastors offers resources and ministry tools from our pastor, Ed Young.

It’s amazing how much I’ve learned on this project. I work with a super-talented team. There’s Brian the leader, Brad the developer, Jeph the designer, and then there is little ol’ me. I’m a bit of a hybrid between Brad and Jeph, more of a “web devigner.” When I talk about how really cool, and incredibly fast this site is, I’m boasting more about my team than myself.

As far as the technical mumbo jumbo goes… It has full CSS layout. In most cases, we’re connecting to the PostgreSQL database with PHP and AJAX scripting. The major product and sermon series pages uses a fancy dynamic javascript templating method that Brad tells me he’s never seen done on any shopping cart site before. Brad’s got a big brain. One of the more interesting aspects is a simple, one-page checkout process.

I’ve hardly worked on anything other than this CreativePastor’s site since joining the FC web team, and it looks like there’s no end in sight since our Backpack page keeps stretching longer and longer with post-launch to-do items.

Well done. That is one nice site!

Looks like a very rewarding and fun “first project”.
