First Sign of Modesty

Tiffany

Caleb had a really tough week this past week. He had a fever and stomach virus for a week. The doctor wanted to see him after five days with a fever.

I take going to the doctor seriously. I think you should wear nice clothes, shave, smell good, and of course wear nice underwear regardless of whether the doctor will ever see it or not.

I carry this same attitude over to Caleb in getting him ready for the doctor. I was wiping his face, chest, and arms off with a wet warm rag. Then right before I had him put on his nicest underwear (not with Bob the Builder, Scooby Doo, or tractors on it) I used the rag to wipe down that entire region too. Caleb got all upset and asked why I was doing that.

I said, “I just want to make sure you are all clean in case Dr. Worsley needs to look down there.” That is pretty common at a pediatrician visit.

Caleb grabbed his neck and cried out, “My fever is right here not down there. I don’t want the doctor looking down there.”

I was in shock. This is the same child who tries to take off his swimsuit at every public pool because he likes to be naked. I guess the beginning of modesty is a good thing, and I’m happy to report that Dr. Worsley did not need to look down there after all. However Caleb will not be so lucky tomorrow when he goes for his 3 year old check up.

This is incredibly funny to me, but to Caleb it’s life and death stuff. I want to know how the visit today went, especially the part where the Dr. has to “look down there”, and what Caleb’s reactions are. We are soo looking forward to our visit soon. We love you——-Pappy
