Kayla’s Big Day

Tiffany

This coming weekend is one we’ve been looking forward to for months. My sister Kayla will be getting married. We’ll load up the boys and lots of luggage for a full day of travel on Thursday all the way to New Hampshire. The last time we all traveled Andy commented that “It should be illegal to travel with small children”. Nothing would keep us from being there for her big day.

I am six and a half years older than my sister. I actually remember going to the hospital to see my sister for the first time after she was born. I wasn’t very nice to her during my teenage years, but thankfully she has forgiven me.

In some ways we couldn’t be more different. She is fun, creative, artsy, right-brained, laid back, independent, and spontaneous. I’m fun, pragmatic, left-brained, non-artsy, and plan out everything I do. I’m for McCain. She’s for Obama. I eat dinner at 5pm and go to bed at 9pm. She doesn’t even eat dinner until after I’m in bed. In other ways though we are so much alike. We have the same sarcastic sense of humor, and we even share a few of the same bad habits (although I’m not saying what).

When I brought Andy home the first time to introduce him to the family she was afraid he might be an axe murderer. She was 12 at the time. Thankfully she was wrong abut him. She and Andy love to talk about design, typography, Apple products, and other silly stuff like that :)

She stood beside me at my wedding. She was present at the birth of our boys. We talk at least once a day, and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

Wes and Kayla

I love you Kayla. And Wes, welcome to the circus (I mean family)!

Tiffany,
What a great tribute to your sister and your friendship. Sisterhood is a wonderful bond! Hope the wedding is wonderful and fantastic and can’t wait to hear all about it!

This makes me cry – I just now got around to reading it and now, more than ever, I wish I had a sister. You guys hang on to each other forever, just as you have in the past. There’s nothing sweeter. Love you.

Talk to me, Goose
