Merry Christmas From Georgia

Andy

Life has been coming at us pretty fast over the last couple of months, but we’re finally feeling settled again. I won’t attempt to catch you up on everything, but I’ll give you a few tidbits.

We bought a house seven minutes from my work. Ten minutes during rush hour! That’s huge considering I’m just coming off a two-hour round trip commute in Texas. In the last month, I’ve changed the CD in my car only once. I’m just not in my car long enough to get tired of it. Most days I’ll get to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with my family. Our new (err…old) house is in a wonderful school district in east Cobb County. Our neighbors are great. They’re empty nesters, and are excited about us having a three year old. They’ve already offered their babysitting and handyman services. They even brought us a delicious hot apple pie the day we moved in. How cool is that!? The neighborhood also has a swim/tennis area that we’re thrilled about. The house needs some work, but we’re taking it in stride and believe we’ll be here a while. Our house in Texas was brand new, so I never had to do handyman stuff. I’ve got a lot to learn, but for now, it’s kind of fun. Except for getting shocked the other day! Note to self. That little outlet packs a nice punch. My dad gave me a little voltage tester for Christmas, and I promise it has saved my life on a couple of occasions.

For the first time in lots of years, we woke up in our own house on Christmas morning and did not have to travel anywhere. Caleb was so funny. He woke up two hours ahead of schedule Christmas morning. He was so excited. He seems to love the new house. He enjoys having a house with stairs, a basement, and especially a laundry chute in his bathroom.

Our new church, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, holds a special Christmas memorial service each year for those who have lost loved ones throughout the year. Tiffany and I attended, and it was the most meaningful Christmas event we attended all season. Our pastor read aloud each name as a candle was lit and the family stood in their honor. Just hearing her name, Anna Caroline Knight, spoken aloud means so much to us. A couple people this year gave Christmas gifts to charity in her honor. We’re very thankful for God’s grace, because He is making it possible to weather the storms that have come our way.

And I’ll try to be a little more frequent with my journal entries…in between my “honey-do” projects that is.

Horray! A Knightly post!

I’m looking at this picture of your house and wondering if you really have a yard to mow… One less thing on the honey-do list, eh?

And not to bust your bubble, but my commute is still shorter than yours! (But not as fun since I wrecked the Boxster.)
