Mother’s Day

Tiffany

Andy has always been a good gift-giver, but this year he really came through with an amazing gift for my first Mother’s Day. He made me a hotel reservation for Saturday night at the Worthington Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. The idea behind it was that I am always busy doing mom and wife things, but this would be time to do anything I wanted to do.

I enjoyed every second of my time. I was gone about 30 hours. No laundry, no diapers, no cooking, no cleaning, no crying, no removing spit-up, and lots of sleep! I was able to see two “chick flicks” which is more movies than I’ve seen in the entire time since Caleb’s birth. I had time to read and journal. I had time to paint my nails and toenails, and I had time to actually chew my meals. Normally I eat so fast because I am dishing out Cheerios and picking up toys off the floor.

Everyone keeps asking me if I thought about and worried about Caleb with Andy while I was gone, but I didn’t at all. Andy is a great dad, and he took excellent care of Caleb. I returned home Sunday night to a happy baby, clean home, no dishes in the sink, empty dishwasher, clean clothes, sheets, and towels. More importantly I returned home refreshed mentlly, physically, and spiritually ready to be a wife and mom again. The only bad part of this is how will I top this gift for Father’s day?
