Moving On Up
Today was a big day around the Knight household- Promotion Sunday at church. I spent plenty of time preparing Caleb for the big day. He would be in his new class for three full hours with a new teacher. With diligent care I packed him a snack and milk that had his name on it so that no other baby would take it. We were ready to go.
I was in shock when we walked into the room. There was nothing for babies…no cribs, no swings, no rocking chairs, no refrigerator to keep his milk cold. THIS WAS NOT A BABY ROOM…IT WAS A TODDLER ROOM! My baby isn’t a baby anymore. I watched as Caleb’s friends poured in one by one. I’ve known these babies all year. When did they get so big and start walking? There were no pacifiers, no booties, no pale pink or blue clothes. It took awhile before Andy finally convinced me to leave the room.
After three long long hours it was time to go pick him up. Of course Caleb was having a great time. He is already looking forward to the puzzles in the toddler room next week. There were only a few tears shed on promotion Sunday, and they were all mine not Caleb’s!
