Music Around the House

Andy

I used to have cool songs stuck in my mind, sometimes they were driving rock songs, sometimes introspective ballads, but the one thing they all had in common is that they were all cool songs. Well, let me just tell you, things have changed! Now the songs stuck in my mind are “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, and “London Bridge is Falling Down.” Often the amount of frustration displayed by Caleb is proportional to the length of time one of his toys goes without playing one of those annoying songs. In other words, when the dopey music stops, he starts up. When the dopey music comes on, he pipes down. It’s that simple. So the name of the game around our house is fast we can get from whatever we are doing at the time to the music button on his toys. It’s sad, really. The sadder thing is that Caleb is often willing to sacrifice his “lovely” music for his dad’s solos. That’s really just sad for Tiffany though that she has to endure my lack of harmony. So Caleb and I often take it to the back patio. There I can sing some of his favorite songs without making Tiffany cry. So far, he really likes “Boy Named Sue” by Johnny Cash and the “Ballad of the Alamo” by Marty Robbins.
