Northlake Baptist Church
Northlake Baptist Church in Garland, TX, is committed to serving the Lord together. Northlake has a wonderful fellowship in Garland, TX, where you can develop meaningful friendships. Northlake is the kind of place that you can feel right at home. The theme of Northlake Baptist Church is “Joining Hands to Share God’s Love.” This phrase expresses the spirit and mission of our church.
When Northlake Baptist Church approached me in early 2003, they needed an updated design as well as an easier method for keeping their online calendar current.
Because churches have so many scheduled activities, keeping the website up to date is a constant challenge. Very few church websites are built with that problem in mind. Most are built by church volunteers who know a little about web design. The church is, of course, grateful for their generous time and willingness to serve. However, updating the website usually becomes a burden to staff members who already have more things to do than time to do them.
For that reason I made the process of adding new events to the Northlake site as easy as possible, and the calendar events are automatically removed after the scheduled event has ended.
All of a sudden, the church website becomes a useful tool for ministry rather than a burden. When church members know that the latest church info can be found on the website, they will begin to go there more often.
I redesigned their site for them in 2004. We kept the same basic layout. I sleeked up the design a bit. I got rid of the html tables, iframes, and old school markup. I used CSS completely. The main feature that was added was simplified process for the pastor to upload sermon audio.
