Sea World

Tiffany, Caleb, Kayla, and I made a trip to San Antonio this weekend to visit Sea World, five-hour trip from Fort Worth. We loved it. The shows were entertaining. The hotel was top notch. The weather was pleasant. The kid was happy. The crowds were manageable.

Sea World is so cool. We got to watch an impressive acrobatic display. We were completely in awe of the size, power, speed, and gracefulness of the Orca whales. We were laughing hysterically at the gigantic walrus doing sit-ups and the clever sea lions performing one trick after another. We also enjoyed having breakfast next to the shark tank and petting and feeding the dolphins. We feared that Caleb would get easily bored during the shows, but every time the dolphins or whales would jump, Caleb would shout "Mo Mo Mo." For those unfamiliar with Caleb’s speaking (aka Calebonics) that means "more, more, more". He loved the shows. Each show was twenty minutes, the perfect length of time for young attention spans, even though most the adults probably would have probably preferred a longer show. I guess its good to leave the audience wanting more.

All four of us shared a room at the Radisson Hill Country Resort. It is basically across the street from Sea World. It has three heated outdoor pools. One of them never got over a foot and a half deep, perfect for Caleb’s 3 feet stature.

Instead of Kayla getting her own room, we got a suite with the intention of rolling the crib into the bedroom portion of it and allowing Kayla to sleep on the pull out sofa in the living room. However, the bedroom portion wasn’t quite big enough to accommodate the crib, so we had to put the crib in the living room section while Tiffany and I slept on the sofa-bed in the living room. We soon remembered why sofa-beds had such a bad reputation. At 2:15 am Tiffany bailed on me and joined Kayla in the king size bed.

Meanwhile, Caleb slept like a champ. When he laid out flat his head touched the front of the crib and his toes hung out between the rungs at the back. But he never complained and he slept all night both nights and napped great.

Speaking of Caleb’s sleeping, since he slept in the main room we had to all three hang out in the bedroom section after he went to sleep at night. The inside joke was about how much time we all spent in bed together.
