Six Years and Counting

For our sixth anniversary, Tiffany and I stayed the night at the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine, which is about a 45 minute drive from our home in Fort Worth. It was so relaxing to get away and not think about what’s going on at home with Caleb. At least in theory that was our plan, but in reality we called home four times in a 23 hour span just to check on our sweet little angel. That said, we still had a great time.

The Gaylord Texan is huge! The indoor atrium in the middle of the hotel had a little alamo, a replica of an oil derrick, a replica of the river walk in San Antonio, restaurants, gardens, vineyards, trees, pools, and oh yeah, lots of Christmas lights.

This morning we enjoyed a buffet breakfast. We’ll refrain from mentioning how many plates of food we had.

After that, we went to a day spa in downtown in the quaint downtown area of Grapevine where I had made reservations for both of us to receive a massages. It’s a strange experience having a stranger rub on you. You might could argue that in the big scheme things, a massage is a waste of money (Tiffany would heatedly debate you on that), and perhaps you’re right or maybe she’s right. Whatever the case, you can’t argue with how relaxing and refreshing it is. An impractical but luxurious splurge it may be, but the truth is, practicality and romance have never played well together.

God has given me six amazing years with Tiffany. We’ve shared so many experiences together. Many have been blissful. Some have been painful. Most have been ordinary, but every one of them was was made better because she has been with me.

And just in case you were wondering, I still believe a massage makes a great gift
